95
Report of the Fire Department
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
I hereby. submit my report for the year ending December
31, 1966. There were (72) calls during the year.
House Fires g
Forest Fires 17
Car Fires 4
Rescue
6
Dump Fires 25
Flooded Oil Burners 3
Misc. 11
There were two buildings totally destroyed due to delayed
discovery and there was only minor damage to the others.
Our problems at the dump have increased some on account
of a better understanding between departments, but a dump
is always a problem.
As the water level in the Mashpee pond is very low, it is
difficult at times to fill the trucks. The new flume at the Mill
Pond will be a great help in keeping enough water for fire
fighting, as at this time the water situation seems to be
getting worse each year.
I wish to thank the Town officials and the public for
their co-operation during the year.
Respectfully submitted,
ELLSWORTH PETERS,
Fire Chief
