108 <br /> C. Maintenance <br /> All signs, whether erected prior to the effective date of <br /> this Article or not, -and whether a permit is required or not, <br /> shall be maintained in a safe and neat condition to the <br /> satisfaction of the Building Inspector. Failure to correct a <br /> violation of this provision within 20 days -after notice there- <br /> of shall constitute grounds for revocation of the permit, or <br /> j for removal of the sign if it was erected prior to the time <br /> when such permit was required, or if it is of a type for <br /> 'j which no permit is required. <br /> tJ D. Prohibitions <br /> 1. Moving or flashing signs; No sign, any part of which <br /> is designed intentionally to move, and no sign illuminated <br /> by or including any flashing or occulting light shall be per- <br /> mitted. Strings of pennants or so-called whirlygigs, and the <br /> like shall be deemed to be included in this prohibition, which <br /> shallalso apply to window signs, as defined herein. A sign <br /> which is designed for structural reasons, to align itself with <br /> the direction of the wind shall not be considered a moving <br /> sign. <br /> 2. Overhanging signs. No overhanging signs shall be <br /> permitted, however, this provision shall not apply to street <br /> name signs nor to signs or devices erected by the Town, <br /> County or Commonwealth for the direction and control of <br /> traffic. <br /> 3. Signs on trees, etc. Except for signs warning of <br /> danger or prohibiting trespass or the like, no sign shall be <br /> Painted on or affixed to any tree, fence, utility pole, rock <br /> or ledge, nor painted or posted on any wall without an inter- <br /> mediary removable surface. <br /> 4. Neon signs. Except in Business or Light Industrial <br /> Districts, no sign shall include any neon or other electro- <br /> excited gas filled tubing illumination. <br /> 5. Certain roof signs. No sign shall be erected on any <br /> roof so as to project above or beyond the roof line of the <br /> building on which it is erected. No sign shall be painted on <br /> any roof surface so as to be visable from the ground. How- <br /> ever, where the space between the tops of store windows <br /> and the roof line is insufficient for -a wall sign extending <br /> b across the face of the building to contain the area authorized <br /> l <br />
