Purpose and Definitions <br /> d The purpose of this article is to provide for the reasonable <br /> 1 regulation and control of the erection and maintenance of <br /> signs and advertising devices within the Town to the end that <br /> the appearance and amenities of the Town may be preserved <br /> E ' and enhanced, without unduly restricting the conduct of <br /> lawful enterprise. For this purpose, the following terms shall <br /> have the meanings, hereinafter ascribed to them. <br /> SIGN — Any device, surface or framework on which <br /> words, symbols or other designs are inscribed or displayed <br /> and designed to call attention thereto, including flags, ban- <br /> ners, and the like. <br /> ACCESSORY SIGN — A sign accessory to a <br /> permitted <br /> use or occupncy of the premises on which it is located, indi- <br /> cating the name of the occupant of such premises and-or the <br /> nature of the business conducted or the products sold thereon. <br /> OFF-PREMISES SIGN—A sign advertising the name of <br /> the occupant or location of, or the nature of the business con- <br /> ducted or products sold on a premises other than that upon <br /> which it is located. <br /> n. REAL ESTATE SIGN — A sign <br /> rental of only the premises on Which it advertising.located, and bearing <br /> the name, address and-or telephone number of the agent <br /> through which such sale or rental may be accomplished.
