137 <br /> Report of the <br /> he <br /> s; Regional School Study Committee <br />)u j <br /> is <br /> ie <br /> 8, Mr. Moderator — Voters of the Town of Mashpee: <br /> n <br /> I hereby submit the report of the Mashpee Regional <br /> it School Study Committee as follows: <br /> In accordance with the provisions of the warrant for <br /> 1968 Mashpee Annual Town Meeting, a Regional School Dis- <br /> e trict Planning Committee was appointed by the Moderator. <br /> S The following members of this committee were notified of <br /> appointment: <br /> 1. Mrs. Carrie Saunders <br /> 6 2. Mrs. Hazel Oakley <br /> 3. Mr. Vernon Thomas <br /> Many joint meetings were held with Sandwich and <br /> Bourne. After extensive study, the Bourne Regional School <br /> Study Committee voted not to pursue Regionalization as <br /> Bourne would not benefit to a degree sufficient to warrant <br /> formation of .a Regional School District including the Towns <br /> of Bourne, Sandwich, and Mashpee. <br /> Consequently, the Regional Committees of Sandwich and <br /> Mashpee organized to pursue Regionalization via the Guide- <br /> lines set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Educa- <br /> tion. <br /> "Steps in Establishing A Regional School District" <br /> 1. Town votes to create a regional school district planning <br /> committee—three members, one of whom is a school com- <br /> mittee member appointed by the moderator. <br /> i <br /> l 2. Two or more regional school district planning commit- <br /> tees organize into a regional school district planning <br /> board. <br /> 3. Regional school district planning board studies desira- <br /> on and <br /> llity of <br /> operation costs regionalsolution, <br /> lthe help estimates <br /> the Bureau ofonstructioSchool <br /> p <br /> Building Assistance. <br />
