125'
Report of the School Nurse
To: Mr. Clayton E. Campbell, Supt. of Schools,
The School Committee and Citizens of the
Town of Mashpee:
Herewith is the annual report of the school nurse.
1970 was a comparatively healthy year. Of course, colds
and intestinal upsets are always with us in varying degrees,
as are the bumps and bruises and scrapes of childhood, but
there was no serious outbreak of any disease.
Physical exams were done in grades one and five by Dr.
Hutchins Inge, the school physician.
Immunizations clinics also were under Dr. Inge's direc-
tions. Booster shots for D.P.T. and polio, and the Tine Shot
for T.B. were available to grade one pupils. German Measles
(Rubella) vaccine was given in grades K through three.
Mumps vaccine was available for all grades. The annual im-
munization clinics for pre-school children were held. These
clinics are arranged for by Mrs. Nerbonne, Mashpee District
Nurse.
Mrs. Alice Dalzell, County Dental Hygienist, checked the
teeth of all pupils. The Board of Health continues to sponsor
the Dental Clinic. This was our first year with Dr. Robert
Riley of Osterville.
Vision and hearing tests were done in all grades and
parents notified when a child failed this screening, so that a
full examination may be done by a doctor. Speech therapy
was provided throughout the school year for our hard of
hearing child.
I am most appreciative and thankful for the help and
cooperation received from all quarters.
Respectfully submitted,
ANNA E. CAMPBELL, R.N.
i '
vc
