104 <br /> purchase of a copy machine to be used in the Selectmen's <br /> office or take any other action thereon. <br /> Action: Motion made and seconded to raise and appro <br /> priate the sum of $1,345.50. A vote. <br /> Article 23. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the <br /> Board of Selectmen in conjunction with the Board of Health, <br /> subject to state statutes and health regulations and after a <br /> public hearing to enter into a contract and lease for the term <br /> of ten (10) years with a private company for 'solid waste dis- <br /> posal for the Town, which contract may provide that such' <br /> private-company may use Town owned land for such purpose, <br /> and may further use such land for disposal of the solid wastes <br /> ' of other towns of Barnstable County( or take any other ac- <br /> tion thereon. <br /> Action: Motion made and seconded article be accepted <br />' as read. A vote. <br /> Article 24. To see if the Town will vote to approve the <br /> following bylaws or take any further action thereon <br /> 1-1 Authority " <br /> This bylaw prescribes certain powers and duties of the <br /> Highway Surveyor. He is authorized to issue permits for work <br /> to be performed upon any Town Highway or section thereof. <br /> In this connection attention is directed to the "Town of <br /> ( Mashpee bylaws" effecting Town Highways which provides <br /> s as .follows: <br /> "Digging up Town Highways; Planting Trees; <br /> Bond; Per- <br /> mit. No Town Highway shall be dug up, or opening made <br /> �i therein for any purpose, nor shall any material be dumped or <br /> placed thereon or removed therefrom, and no tree shall be <br /> 1 planted or removed or construction or structure placed there- <br /> on or removed therefrom or changed without the written per- <br /> mit of the Department, and then only to accordance with its <br /> regulations, and the work shall be done under its supervision <br /> and to its satisfaction, and the entire expense of replacing <br /> and resurfacing the highway at the same level and in as good <br /> condition as before, with materials equal in specifications to <br /> those removed, shall be paid by the persons to whom the per- <br /> mit was given or by whom the work was done. The Depart- <br /> ment may require a bond to guarantee the faithful and satis- <br /> factory performance of the work and payment for any dam- <br /> age to town highways and facilities caused by or resulting <br /> from the operations authorized by such permit.
