All islands proposed be- <br /> tween commercial driveways shall be 8 inches in height and <br /> edged with curb or berm. Large island surfaces may be <br /> loamed and seeded. Small island surfaces shall be paved <br /> according to Department standards. <br /> 8. The radii of a private drive may not extend beyond, <br /> the applicant's property line unless the application is ac- <br /> companied by a letter from the applicant's abutter indicating <br /> his approval of this condition. <br /> 9. Delineation of drives, islands and street radii are re- <br /> quired, by either curb or a bituminous berm to join existing <br /> edging, if any, and shall be installed according to the prevail- <br /> ing construction standards. The edging shall extend onto the <br /> applicant's property to that point where the radii becomes <br /> tangent and the required square width is defined. <br /> 2. A traffic island is also specified between openings ex- <br /> tending from curb or shoulder line to side line in order to <br /> prevent use of town property for commercial purposes and to <br /> define path of entering and existing vehicles. <br /> 3. If shoulders exist, drives shall be curbed or bermed <br /> to and along edge of shoulder, with a minimum set back of 2 <br /> feet. <br /> 4. Where sidewalks exist on major highways and are not <br /> frequently used, the sidewalk shall be depressed and graded <br /> from the gutter line to the side line, and the drive is then to <br /> be defined by radius curb or berm whichever is in use. <br /> 5. At locations where sidewalks exist and curb corners <br /> (3 foot minimum) are used sidewalk curb returns shall be <br /> dissipated within the driveway opening.
