The full amount of the HUD Historic Preservation <br /> Grant was disbursed as of February 1973, the Wampanoag <br /> Indian Museum opened July 15, 1973, and a site inspection <br /> of the HUD_assisted improvements to the property was con- <br /> ducted on January 30, 1974. <br /> The concern of HUD is the continued operation and <br /> maintenance of the Avant House. The Federal grant from <br /> HUD was awarded subject to the terms and conditions of a <br /> grant contract between HUD and the Town of Mashpee dated <br /> May 15, 1970. Part II, Section 25.(b) of the contract provides <br /> "The Public Body will operate and maintain the Project, or <br /> provide for the operation and maintenance thereof, to serve <br /> the Historic Preservation purposes for which the Grant has <br /> been made." Also, fire and extended coverage insurance as <br /> well as public liability insurance are to be arranged for by <br /> the Town of Mashpee for the Avant House. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> AMELIA G.
