ria
The Mashpee By-Law on Conservation was finally ap-
proved by the Attorney General after being contested as
being unconstitutional. A trip to the Attorney General's
office in Boston along with our attorney Marcel Kistin was
the determining factor.
"The State Wetlands Protection Act" has received much
publicity in the past year all over the Cape. We intend to
make Mashpee's By-Law known to residents and developers
so that no one can claim "ignorance of the law".
The Commission obtained tree seedlings from the Barn-
stable County Conservation District which were distributed
on candidates night; we will have them again this year,, so
plan to beautify your home grounds.
The Commission was deeply saddened by the loss of
commission member Kenneth Barclay, whose dry wit and
devotion"to duty will be greatly missed. Mr. Wilbur A. Oak-
ley was appointed to the vacancy at the suggestion of the
Commission.
We wish to extend our thanks to the numerous Town
Officials who assisted us in the performance of our duties,
and those who have indicated their desire to work with the
Commission in co-ordination with other Town Departments.
Respectfully submitted,
DOROTHY G.
