128 7
5. Arranged the acquisition by the Town of Mashpee of
buildings from Otis for use by the people of Mashpee in
their Recreation Program, and for use by the Mashpee Coun-
cil on Aging.
Some of the possibilities which the Task Force is present-
ly pursuing include:
i a. Use of Otis Housing by the Department of Elder Affairs.
{ b. Having some, or all, of the U.S. Naval Oceanographic
i
Office relocate to Otis.
c. The establishment of a Native American Indian School
on Otis.
d. Moving the U.S. Naval activities, presently situated at
Brunswich, Maine, and Weymouth, Mass., to. Otis.
e. The placing at Otis by the Veterans' Administration of
a National Cemetery and a National Visitors' Center.
This complex would cover 500 acres and directly gener-
ate about 125 jobs; as well as aiding business establish-
ments in the four-town area. The Task Force has
obtained strong backing from the Veterans Organization
in Southeastern Massachusetts in bringing this pro-
posed project to Otis.
Until definite agreement is reached between the Com-
monwealth and the Federal Government on the exact location
i' of a common perimeter, as well as to the exact status of all
the various facilities on Otis, the Task Force is still unable
i. to present a complete conversion plan to the citizens of our
four-town area.
Respectfully submitted,
ELIZABETH B. TYMINSKI
Mashpee Member, Otis Task Force
i
