152 Report of the Principal i, j' To: Dr. Anthony VAntuono, Superintendent of Schools, The Mashpee School Committee, and Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: The annual report of the Samuel G. Davis School is herewith submitted by the Principal. Enrollment: Enrollment in the Samuel G. Davis School has increase at a constant rate of 8010 since 1970. This year a new high figure was reached with 282 pupils registered as of October 1, 1974. This is .an increase of 27% over the enrollment of 222 pupils in 1972. Space is now at a premium. Any addi- tional pupil load will cause overcrowded conditions. Highlights of 1974: The Mashpee P.T.A. under the dedicated leadership of p Mrs. Walter Carlson as resident deserves special mention. In addition to serving as a vital coordinating link between the school and the home, it raised over $1,400 through the ,� Several "Annual Scholarship Dinner and a candy sale. Seve graduating high school seniors were awarded scholarships to institutions of higher learning, and playground appar- atus was purchased for the school. This year the Mashpee P.T.A. won state recognition as j the P.T.A. with the highest increase in membership and was Ir, honored with its name inscribed on a Paul Revere Bowl and '( also received an award for outstanding programs as an or- ganization. Indebted are we to Col. Eugene S. Clark of Sandwich, Massachusetts, marine biologist, for his lectures to Grade 3 on Cape Cod Shore Life and Whaling. Under Title I, a "Program of Cultural and Personal En- richment" directed by Mrs. Marilyn Strauss gave remedial help and cultural enrichment to a score of deprived chil- dren during the summer.
