i SPECIAL TOWN MEETING WARRANT JANUARY 29, 1975 Barnstable, ss: To the Constable of the Town of Mashpee Greetings: In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby directed to notify and summons the inhabitants of the Town of Mashpee, who are qualified to vote in the elections, to meet at Town Hall on Wednesday, January 29, 1975 at 7:30 p.m. to act on the articles contained in the following warrant: I i The meeting was brought to order by the Moderator, Peter M. jLawrence, at 7:45 p.m. 269 voters were in attendance. A quorum was declared. Prayer was offered by the former Town Selectman, Leroy M. Aikens. I 1 Tellers were: Eleanor M. Peters and Mary H. Potter. The Moderator introduced Brent C. McMahan, Executive Secretary, and wished a "long, successful, and productive career in the Town of Mashpee", to him. Claire J. Gillis, President of the Taxpayers Association, commented on the great work the Finance Committee is doing. She strongly urged the taxpayers to attend their meetings to see how effectively the tax dollars are i being spent. Article 1: To see if the Town will vote to rescind the action taken on Article 25 of the Annual Town Meeting of May 13, 1974. Submitted by the Highway Department. Recommended by Finance Committee as it will be i replaced by Article 2. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to accept Article 1 as read. Unanimously voted. J Article 2: To see if the Town will vote to transfer the sum of$31,067.00 from the proceeds received from the State, under provisions of Section 22, Chapter 1140, Acts of 1973, for the construction of Great Neck Road. Submitted by the Highway Department. Recommended by Finance Committee to continue the construction of Great Neck Road. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to accept Article 2 as read. Unanimously voted. I Article 3: To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the sum of 9,500.00 to meet the State's share of Chapter 90 Construction. Submitted by the Highway Department. Recommended by the Finance Committee as it will be reimbursed to the Town by the Commonwealth. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to accept Article 3 as read. Unanimously voted. Article 4: To see if the Town will vote to authorize the hiring of the existing temporary skilled laborer to permanent status to work for the High- way Department. Submitted by the Highway Department. Recommended by the Personnel Board. Not recommended by the Finance Committee as it is believed that a federally-funded position will be available for this purpose. ACTION:Article 4 required a two-thirds vote. For 160, opposed 36.
