SPECIAL TOWN MEETING WARRANT <br /> JANUARY 29, 1975 <br /> Article 5: To see if the Town will vote to appropriate from available <br /> funds the sum of$3,161.50 (six months salary), to be transferred to the <br /> Highway Department's Full-time Men's Salary Account, for salaries of one <br /> full-time skilled laborer or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the <br /> Highway Department. Recommended by the Personnel Board. Not recom- <br /> mended by the Finance Committee because Article 4 was not recommended <br /> and this money would have funded the position mentioned therein. <br /> ACTION: Article 5 required a two-thirds vote. For 156, opposed 12. <br /> Article 5 tabled. <br /> Article 6: To see if the Town will vote to transfer the sum of <br /> $12,281.00 from the proceeds received from the State under the provisions <br /> of Chapter 825, Acts of 1 974, to be spent approximately as follows: <br /> 1. Inspections of bridges within the Town............$1,400.00 . <br /> 2. Seal and Coating............................... 8,000.00 <br /> 3. Berms and Drainage............................ 700.00 <br /> 4. Improvement of Roads.......................... 2,181.00 <br /> Submitted by the Highway Department. Recommended by the Finance <br /> Committee with an amendment that would use Chapter 81 instead of Chapter <br /> 825 funds. <br /> ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to accept Article 6 as read. <br /> Unanimously voted. <br /> Article 7: To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds <br /> the sum of$1,799.05 to be transferred to the Highway Department's Machine <br /> Account, or take any other action thereon. These monies to be used for <br /> repair work completed on A/C M65 Grader. Submitted by HighwayDepart- <br /> ment. Not recommended by Finance Committee as it is believed that this <br /> debt was not incurred in conformance with the town by-laws. <br /> ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to accept Article 7 as read. <br /> Unanimously voted. <br /> Article 8: To pee if the Town will vote to take from available funds <br /> the sum of$6,000.00 to be transferred to the Highway Department's Expense <br /> Account, to complete this year's functions; or take any other action thereon. <br /> Submitted by Highway Department. Recommended by Finance Committee <br /> that$1,500 instead of$6,000 be transferred as it is estimated that $1,500 <br /> along with other available funds will suffice for the remainder of this fiscal <br /> year. <br /> ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to take$1,500 from available <br /> funds to be transferred to Highway Department's Expense Account to com- <br /> plete this year's functions. Motion carried. <br /> Article 9: To see if the Town will approve the position of Groundskeeper <br /> to be employed for a 26-week period (April-September), with the responsibility <br /> for the maintenance of all recreational facilities. Submitted by Parks & <br /> Recreation Commission, and the Recreational Director. Approved by Personnel <br /> Board. Not recommended by Finance Committee as it is believed that a <br /> federally-funded position will be available for this purpose. <br /> ACTION: Motion made and seconded to postpone Article 9 indefinitely.
