ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to change Article 13: Motion to reinsert Chemical Corporation, and add Falmouth Enterprise: 268 for, 62 oppose. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded to accept Article 13 as amended. Motion carried. Article 14: To see if the Town will vote to construct a new Mashpee Community Middle School to serve grades 4 - 8, or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the Board of Selectmen. Submitted by the Building Needs Commi- ttee. The Finance Committee recognizes the need to construct a new Mashpee Middle School to serve grades 4 - 8. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 14 be accepted as read. Motion made and seconded to amend at a total cost not to exceed$4,000,000.00. Amendment, 193 for, 155 opposed. Amendment passes. V. Motion duly made and seconded that Article 14 be accepted as amended. Motion carried. Article 15: To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the sum of$32,000.00 for the cost of engineering and miscellaneous site expenses of the new middle school project. Submitted by the Board of Selectmen. Sub- mitted by the Building Needs Committee. No recommendation by the Finance Committee pending the vote on Article 14. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 15 be accepted as read. Motion carried. Article 16: To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of $298,000.00 for the cost of architectural services for plans and specifications for the construction of the new middle school described in Article 14 of this I meeting, to be located on land presently owned by the Town of Mashpee off Barnstable-Falmouth Road, and that to raise such appropriation, the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, be authorized to borrow the sum of $298,000.00 by the issue of bonds or notes, at one time or from time to time, under and pursuant to ghapter 44, Section 7 (21) of the General Laws as amended and supplemented,and that the Selectmen are hereby authorized to appoint a School Building Committee consisting of eight (8) members to take any and all action that may be required to implement this vote. Submitted by the Board of Selectmen. Submitted by the Building Needs Committee. No recommendation by the Finance Committee as the town has not yet indicated what the cost of the proposed middle school shall be. Submitted by Municipal Building Sites and Needs Committee. Recommended by the Finance Committee with an amount of$23,000.00 instead of$50,000.00. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to take from available funds $23,000.00 for a new police and fire station, etc. Motion carried. Article 18: To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the sum of$500.00 for clerical assistance to the Board of Registrars. Submitted by the Board of Registrars. Recommended by the Finance Committee. ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 18 be accepted as read. Motion carried. 73
