Motion carried. <br /> Article 14: To see if the Town will vote to construct a new Mashpee <br /> Community Middle School to serve grades 4 - 8, or take any other action thereon. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen. Submitted by the Building Needs Commi- <br /> ttee. The Finance Committee recognizes the need to construct a new Mashpee <br /> Middle School to serve grades 4 - 8. <br /> ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 14 be accepted as read. <br /> Motion made and seconded to amend at a total cost not to exceed$4,000,000.00. <br /> Amendment, 193 for, 155 opposed. Amendment passes. V. <br /> Motion duly made and seconded that Article 14 be accepted as amended. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Article 15: To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the <br /> sum of$32,000.00 for the cost of engineering and miscellaneous site expenses <br /> of the new middle school project. Submitted by the Board of Selectmen. Sub- <br /> mitted by the Building Needs Committee. No recommendation by the Finance <br /> Committee pending the vote on Article 14. <br /> ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 15 be accepted as read. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> Article 16: To see if the Town will vote to appropriate the sum of <br /> $298,000.00 for the cost of architectural services for plans and specifications <br /> for the construction of the new middle school described in Article 14 of this I <br /> meeting, to be located on land presently owned by the Town of Mashpee off <br /> Barnstable-Falmouth Road, and that to raise such appropriation, the Treasurer <br /> with the approval of the Selectmen, be authorized to borrow the sum of <br /> $298,000.00 by the issue of bonds or notes, at one time or from time to time, <br /> under and pursuant to ghapter 44, Section 7 (21) of the General Laws as amended <br /> and supplemented,and that the Selectmen are hereby authorized to appoint a School <br /> Building Committee consisting of eight (8) members to take any and all action <br /> that may be required to implement this vote. Submitted by the Board of <br /> Selectmen. Submitted by the Building Needs Committee. No recommendation <br /> by the Finance Committee as the town has not yet indicated what the cost of <br /> the proposed middle school shall be. <br /> ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded that Article 16 be accepted as read. <br /> 281 for, 23 opposed. Recommended <br /> by the Finance Committee with an amount of$23,000.00 instead of$50,000.00. <br /> ACTION: Motion duly made and seconded to take from available funds <br /> $23,000.00 for a new police and fire station, etc. Motion carried. <br /> Article 18: To see if the Town will vote to take from available funds the <br /> sum of$500.00 for clerical assistance to the Board of Registrars. Submitted <br /> by the Board of Registrars.
