27
I
I
I
Report of the Selectmen
To the Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
The Selectmen are quite proud of the marked prog-
ress that our town has shown for the year 1951. The
main attraction is the former U.S.O., that the town
purchased for a Town Hall, offices, and Community Rec-
reation Center. We have had the new vault constructed
and completed. The new offices of the Selectmen and
Assessors, Town Treasurer and Collector have been new-
ly furnished and equipped and are in use on the regu-
larly designated days and evenings. The Town Clerk's
ti
office has not been fully equipped and furnished as yet,
but is expected to be ready in the very near future. We
now have a Town Hall and offices which are as fine as
any town's on Cape Cod. With all the modern conven-
iences and comfortable lounge, and complete privacy for w
anyone wishing to do business with the Town officials, it
is a great improvement over the old setup. The heating
system has been thoroughly overhauled and is in good
order. Some parts of the building have been rewired and
telephones installed. We are anticipating painting part
or all of the building on the outside this year, also to
install a new water pump, as the present one is worn
out, and needs constant repairs.
Second we are proud of the new fire truck that was
purchased for the town. Also the new siren and air-raid
alarm that was purchased and is in daily use. Our fire
