a
28
chief has done a great job in organizing a volunteer fire-
fighting force. All the members are familiar with the
operation of the equipment by constant training. The
interior of the town barn where the equipment is gar-
aged has been cleaned and painted by the volunteers.
The paint was donated by Mr. George Boyd of Seconset
Island. We believe that we have 100% more fire protec-
tion now, than we did before we purchased this new
equipment.
We have had the Mashpee Pond beach property "12
Acres" so called, surveyed and the road bounds to the
pond defined, also we have had Wading-Place Road and
Red Brook Road surveyed. We hope to continue this
program of laying out roads as much as we can afford '
to do each year until all the town's roads have been 1
! laid out. Also we hope to work out some kind of pro-
gram in 1952 to improve Orchard Road which is in very
poor condition.
We also hope to have constructed in 1952, two stone
jetties at Popponesset Beach to protect very valuable
taxable property which is being washed away by heavy
storms. Also to construct a culvert at Seconset Island
between Seconset Channel and Waquoit Bay, to create
circulation between the two bodies of water. The con-
dition there, has been creating a grave nuisance with
the residents of the Island.
We wish*to thank all of the town officials, Mashpee F
Advisory Board, Welfare and Vet's Agents, Town Ac- 4
countant, Townspeople, and others for their splendid
cooperation during the year.
Respectfully submitted, I
FRANK E. HICKS,
I,I FERDINAND W. MILLS,
1 STEVEN A. PETERS,
j Selectmen of Mashpee.
s
Vii;
