This year I want to put in a word of commendation to
those students who have a fine record of attendance and to
their parents who have helped to bring this about. In spite
of the prevalence of sickness, etc., many of our young people
miss but a very few days for the whole school year. As a
group, they have also done better in scholastic work. Twenty-
five years ago there was but one pupil in high school. Today
there are twenty-four. We plan to provide for this repair work in
the regular school budget.
We have continued operation of the school lunch program
and are glad to say that we shall have money enough to com-
plete operation through June. I am happy that there have
been so many children eating the school lunch because that
i is of great assistance in helping to finance the project. The
smaller the number who buy lunch, the greater the difficulty
in meeting the financial obligations of the lunch program.
i Last year, in accordance with the provisions of the state law,
the town of Mashpee paid from the school appropriation the
s sum of $367 for milk. This assistance was necessary and the
r
