97
Report of the Superintendent of Schools
i
To the School Committee and Citizens
of the Town of Mashpee:
i
For many years you have had a full and complete report
from your Superintendent of Schools. Mr. James F. Peebles'
leadership and understanding of your problems has been a
byword in your community for twenty-seven years. This year
he is on leave of absence until May and I shall very humbly
attempt to report to you a few of the highlights and problems
of your school program.
May I state that Mashpee again has been able to have a
competent staff of teachers who have had the interest of
your children at heart at all times and who have made reason-
able growth at each grade level. Mr. Kenneth Coombs has
shown fine leadership. I have been impressed with the fine
spirit of the faculty and of the students.
The town has again been fortunate in having Dr. James
F. Volkers for dental service and Miss Mary Susich for the
various nursing services under the direction of Dr. Fred L.
Moore, our County Health Officer. We are indeed indebted to
all of these people for the many extras that they have supplied
to meet the needs of the community.
Among highlights of your graduation program was an
address by the Rev. Dr. Carl F. Schultz, minister of the Fed-
erated Church in Hyannis. In his address Dr. Schultz re-
marked that "in order to achieve the best in life one must
give the world the best you have, remember that the difference
between good and great achievement is just a little effort,
and have faith in God."
