29
Report of the Highway Surveyor
To the honorable Board of Selectmen
and Citizens of the Town of Mashpee
I herewith submit my annual report as Highway Sur-
veyor for the year ending December 31, 1955. The usual
maintenance work was accomplished. Most of the work was
done by a Sand Spreader which was purchased in Sept. 1955.
The following roads were able to have sections of them
surface treated under Chapter 81 contract: Lovell Lane,
Quashnet, Pimlico Pond, Wakeby, Cotuit, South Sandwich,
Meeting House, Cemetery, Popponesset, Lake Avenue, Newton
and Orchard.
Highway General Money was used to supplement Chapter
81. The Town needs a New Motor Grader.
Under the Chap. 90 maintenance contract, 4,000 feet of
Red Brook Road was surface treated starting at the Fal-
mouth line.
Guard rails were painted on Red Brook Road and Route
151 in addition to brushing under the same contract.
Under the Chapter 90 construction contract, work was
continued on Great Neck Road with 3,850 feet being graded,
hardened and a base course of road-mix surfacing applied.
It is hoped that the 1956 work on this road may be begun early
enough so as to be completed before the summer traffic starts.
I desire to express my appreciation to the town officials
and citizens for the co-operation given me in performing
the duties at my office.
J
