57
Report of the Recreation Committee
To the honorable. Board of Selectmen
Mashpee, Massachusetts
Gentlemen & Madam:
We hereby submit our report of Recreational activities
for the year ending December 31, 1955. Following is a list
of expenditures made in the past year:
Appropriation 1955 $300.00
Expenditures:
Sports Equipment $103.50
Baseball Field Maintenance 16.50
Record Player, amplifier &Speaker 169.95
Total Expenditure $289.95
Balance in Acct. $10.05
As you may notice, the account was left with a small
balance, which should not, however, be interpreted to mean
that the annual appropriation of $300.00 was in excess of what
is needed. This past year our committee spent much time
discussing plans for a broader program which more age
groups could participate in. There has been, in the past, a
concentrated effort on baseball and basketball. These sports
tend to exclude our teen age boys ranging from twelve to
sixteen years of age and our teen age girls. In view of the
extremely limited recreation facilities in the town, we would
like the opportunity to expand our program and a favor-
able vote by the town to grant additional funds to this
account will make this possible.
We wish to express our appreciation to the Board of
Selectmen for their interest in our function.
Respectfully submitted,
MAURICE P. OAKLEY
FREDERICK POCKNETT
KENNETH TOBEL
