29
funds available, the area was not oiled and cedar posts with
chains had to be substituted.
With the purchase of a self propelled "Weed Cutter"
a large picnic area was cleared of brush, stumps and fallen
trees.
A sum of $128.50 was turned.over to the Treasurer for
parking collections, between June 29, and Aug. 26. These
collections were made on weekends only. A much larger
sum could have been realized if the parking area was larger
and it was possible to have had an attendant. on duty each
day of the summer season.
Our rest room facilities are very poor. It is hoped by the
commission that a small cement block building that would
house a shallow well pump and rest room facilities can soon
be added.
It is our desire to open the Park early next year as our
facilities are established. We plan to continue clearing ad-
ditional picnic areas, continue clearing underbrush, paint
and repair existing lavatories, tables and perform other
duties that will continue to make Attaquin Park, popular;
and to serve the people of the Town who enjoy its natural
beauty and resources that we should be so proud to possess.
Respectfully submitted,
ELMONT B. TOBEY, Chmn.
LANSING POCKNETT
KENNETH COOMBS
i
