43
Report of the Veterans' Agent
To the Honorable Selectmen
Town of Mashpee
Massachusetts
The following is a report of the Department of Veterans'
Services for the Town of Mashpee for the calendar year 1956.
;The primary purpose of this Department is to render
aid to needy veterans and their dependents; The employment
situation in this area, and the willingness of- veterans to
secure employment, reflects the expenditure of Veterans'
Benefits. Once again I must compliment the high type of
veteran we have in this Town, and his ,willingness to find
employment and assist others in doing so. All able-bodied
veterans in this Town have excellent work records, except
when weather conditions affect their employment.
The only permanent recipients were widows and totally
disabled World War I veterans. All permanent recipients i. .
are receiving the total amount of Federal Benefits available
such as Federal Pensions, etc. It might be noted that these
benefits received by recipients is a direct savings to the Town.
Three veterans were placed in the Veterans' Administration
Hospital for medical attention. The actual ex-
penditure for the year 1956 was $2,153.55. Of this amount,
