32
1
I
I
I
Report of the Forest Warden
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
Mashpee, Massachusetts
I hereby submit my report for the year ending December
31, 1957.
During the year there were (23) brush and grass fires.
The one of May 8 being very serious with the loss of about
450 acres of woodland. I had expected a fire of that type
and had prepared as far as possible for it. The cost of ex-
tinguishing forest fires has been costly but we expect to be
reimbursed for the May 8 fire by the State.
Due to the serious forest fire danger this year a Brush-
Breaker truck was donated by Mr„ J. K. Lilley III, to the Fire
't Department and has been very useful. I feel that the Town
of Mashpee is equipped as well as any community of its size.
The object now is to keep all equipment in good working
order as it has taken much time and labor to bring this De-
partment to its present condition.
i
I wish to thank the Town Officials the residents and Mr.
J. K. Lilley III, for their cooperation.
Respectfully submitted,
` ELLSWORTH PETERS
Forest Warden
+i
;h
+1
