34
We would like to have the town fill in the adjacent area
to the Seconsett beach. It would provide an excellent park-
ing area and do much to remove the offensive odors of the
stagnant water.
We are anxious to establish toilet facilities at Attaquin
Park. A shallow well pump housed in a cement block house
with two toilet rooms would cost approximately $2500. Our
hesitation in asking for the funds is the added expense of
running an electric light line to the park.
We would like to see a pier or ramp made at Seconsett
Bleach and at Mashpee Lake for the many small boat en-
thusiasts.
It is our hope that through our Selectmen, the adjoin-
ing beach and picnic area, now owned by the State and form-
erly used by the National Guard be added to our park. This
would double the size of our lake frontage and make this
one of the best picnic areas on Cape Cod.
Mr. Francis Sargent, director of Natural Resources has
plans in his report for the development of a state beach at
South Cape Beach and a state park along the Mashpee River.
These projects may have some value in opening new areas
to the public. There are dangers too,the Cape Cod Park Com-
missioners have recently pointed out in the local press that
the town will not only lose land of the finest areas we possess
but have little-or no control of concessions or a voice in regu-
lations of said parks once they are developed.
We wish to express our appreciation to the various town
officials, and to the citizens of the Town who have cooperated
with our department in helping us to make improvements
during the past year.
Respectfully submitted,
ELMONT B. TOBEY
KENNETH COOMBS
Park Commissioners
