Graves <br /> 4 Superintendent of Schools <br /> P <br /> Mashpee, Massachusetts <br /> Dear Sir: <br /> During the year it has been pleasing to note the con- <br /> l - <br /> tinned interest parents have shown in the .progress of their <br /> } children by their participation at various school events. The <br /> r eighth grade graduation is well attended and it is especially <br /> heart-warming to the teachers to be able to have parent- <br /> teacher conferences during National Education Week. <br />+ t f <br /> ' As our school expands, it is hoped that supervision may <br /> be had in the fields of art music and physical [education. <br /> ' p Y '. <br /> ` At present these programs are carried on as in most small <br /> ,5 schools, by the classroom teachers. Each year the school is <br /> represented on the field by a baseball team, and our girls' <br /> � i and boys' basketball teams have performed on the court <br /> r� `FI I with creditable success. Art finds expression through the use <br /> of our classroom bulletin boards. We try to create an en- <br /> 1vironment that is colorful, pleasant-and instructive. The vari- <br /> ous pictures, posters, and drawings collected by ,the teachers <br /> do much to teach children orderly planning, balance, and <br />+ g harmony. Lettering and careful mounting build desirable <br /> x 14; habits of neatness and exactness. <br /> For many years we have been interested in our testing <br /> 4 " program as a means of aiding the teacher in understanding <br /> the needs of the individual child. Group intelligence tests <br /> are administered to all pupils of grades one, three, five, and <br /> eight. Each spring standardized group achievement tests <br /> x'ti are given in each grade.
