As a Town,we received a significant number of Mashpee Fire & Rescue Department <br /> Winter Storms that also caused an increase in our calls Emergency Response Statistics <br /> for service. The total amount of snow was one for the <br /> record books. I would like to thank the proactive Response Description 2014 2015 <br /> citizens that shoveled out their neighbors and assisted <br /> the Fire Department by clearing a path to the many FIRES <br /> hydrants that were buried by the snow. Sometimes the <br /> worst of the weather brings out the best in people, Private Dwellings 24 10 <br /> which we witnessed within our Town. Apartments 5 3 <br /> Hotels & Motels 0 0 <br /> Wildfire Planning Public Assembly 0 0 <br /> Wildfire mitigation projects continue in the All other Residential 0 1 <br /> Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. The use of Schools & Colleges 0 0 <br /> prescription fire for habitat restoration and fire fuels Health Care 0 0 <br /> reduction was accomplished again this season on U.S. Stores & Offices 1 0 <br /> Fish and Wildlife property near Great Hay Road and Industrial 0 0 <br /> Amy Brown Road. There were also prescribed fires Storage Structures 2 0 <br /> completed this spring and fall off of Great Hay Road Other Structures 2 1 <br /> between Mercantile Way and Degrass Road. With the <br /> partnership still in effect with the signing of a Fires in Highway Vehicles 4 5 <br /> Memorandum of Understanding in December, more Fires in Other Vehicles 0 2 <br /> beneficial prescribed burns are planned for 2016. All Fires Outside of Structures 6 10 <br /> of these planned prescription burns are accomplished Fires in the Wildland 6 10 <br /> with the existing partnership of U.S.Fish and Wildlife Fires in Rubbish 2 1 <br /> Service, Massachusetts Department of Conservation All Other Fires 2 3 <br /> and Recreation, Massachusetts Fish and Wildlife, Total Fires 54 46 <br /> Orenda Wildlife Land Trust,and the Town of Mashpee. <br /> New for 2015 Emergency Medical Responses 2150 2409 <br /> In March the Department added a Wildland Fire False Alarms 424 466 <br /> Engine to its fleet. This vehicle,along with our tactics, Mutual Aid Given 117 110 <br /> will be centered on structural protection and a safer Hazardous Materials Response 44 77 <br /> way to intercede with any fires, utilizing natural or Other Hazardous Response 22 33 <br /> manmade barriers. In July, with an Assistance to All Other Responses 422 475 <br /> Firefighters Federal Grant,the Department placed new <br /> Air Packs wom during firefighting operations that will Total for all Incidents 3233 3616 <br /> better protect our firefighters. <br /> Thank You <br /> I wish to thank the Board of Selectmen for their <br /> confidence in each and every member of the Fire <br /> Department.
