COLLINS MEMORIAL AWARD <br /> New academic programs were the focus of 2004- Jeremy Carter <br /> 2005 at Mashpee High School. The focus was in the <br /> areas of Technology and Engineering, Math, Science LEIGH-ANNE HORNE MEMORIAL AWARD <br /> and Reading. A course entitled Technology and Jennifer Tucker <br /> Engineering was created. Through the use of com- <br /> puter assisted instruction, students were challenged to JOSEPH E. MALONE MEMORIAL AWARD <br /> solve engineering problems. Seventh graders were <br /> introduced to a more rigorous pre-algebra program so Matt Riley <br /> that they would be able to enroll in Algebra I in grade <br /> eight. The science department developed a two year FREDERICK H. POCKNETT <br /> biology program. This course was designed to prepare SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD <br /> students for the MCAS Biology exam. An analysis of Jeremy Carter <br /> MCAS English Language Arts scores revealed that a <br /> small cohort of students entering grade nine required DAVID A. VALESIG <br /> improving their reading skills. Members of the SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD <br /> English faculty created the Critical Thinking and <br /> Literacy course for this group. Sally Santos <br /> During the past academic year, Mashpee High 1 r <br /> School continued to work on the accreditation process. <br /> Out of sixty three recommendations cited by the <br /> Visiting Committee from The New England <br /> Association of Schools and Colleges,twenty nine have " <br /> been completed, nineteen are in progress, no action <br /> has been taken on fourteen and one was rejected. The <br /> school has until October 1, 2008 to complete all out- <br /> standing recommendations. <br /> Mashpee High School students continued to <br /> make progress on the high stakes MCAS exams. More <br /> students than ever before scored proficient or higher. �_ <br /> For example, thirty-five percent of the tenth grade <br /> class attained an advanced rating in math.
