Meetinghouse Road, north of Noisy Hole Road and south of Main Street (Route 130), to be held <br /> in. the care and custody of the Conservation. Commissi.on pursuant to Massachusetts General <br /> Laws Chapter 40, Section 8C; and further, the Town vote to appropriate $32,000 for such <br /> purpose, including expenses incidental and related thereto, and to raise such appropriation, the <br /> Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be authorized to borrow $32,000 under and <br /> pursuant to Chapter 44, Sections 7 and 8C and, if applicable, Chapter 40, Section 8C, of the <br /> General Laws, or any other enabling authority, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor; <br /> and further, the Town vote to raise and appropriate $50�O to the Issuance of Debt Account* and <br /> further, the Town authorize the Board of Selectmen and/or Conservation Commission to apply <br /> for and accept Federal and/or State grants, including reimbursement under Chapter 132A, <br /> Section I I of the General Laws, the "Self-Help Act," to be applied by the Town toward the <br /> financing of this purchase, and to enter into contracts or agreements with Federal and/or State <br /> agencies, private conservation trusts or other entities or persons in connection with the purchase <br /> of such land and its preservation for co�nservation purposes; and finally, the Town authorize the <br /> Conservation Commission and the Board of Selectmen to enter into agreements and execute any <br /> and all instruments as may be necessary on behalf of the Town to effectuate said acquisition. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 9:0�4 p.m. <br /> Article 36 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to acquire, by purchase or <br /> otherwise, for conservation purposes, a parcel of land, being that land shown on a "Plan of Land <br /> in Mashpee, Mass. Prepared for Rita A. Lopez, et. als." dated December 8, 1996, by Saunders <br /> Surveying Services of Salem, NE, containing 15.22 acres more or less, said land also being a <br /> portion of that parcel shown on the 1995 Mashpee Assessors Maps, as Map 45, Block 9, <br /> generally located east of the Mashpee River on Meetinghouse Road opposite its intersection <br /> with Goodspeeds Meetinghouse Road, to be held in. the care and custody of the Conservation, <br /> Commission pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section 8C; and further, to <br /> see if the Town will vote to appropriate $150,000 or any other sum for such purpose, including <br /> expenses incidental and related thereto, and to raise such appropriation , the Treasurer, with the <br /> approval of the Selectmen, be authorized to borrow $150,000 or any other sum under and <br /> pursuant to Chapter 44, Sections 7 and 8C and, if applicable, Chapter �40, Section 8C, of the <br /> General Laws, or any other enabling authority, and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor; <br /> and further, to see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer from available funds <br /> $500 or any other sum to the Issuance of Debt Account; and further, to see if the Town will <br /> authorize the Board of Selectmen and/or Conservation Commission to apply for and accept <br /> Federal and/or State grants, including reimbursement under Chapter 132A, Section I I of the <br /> General Laws, the "Self-Help Act," to be applied by the Town toward the financing of this <br /> purchase, and to enter into contracts or agreements with Federal and/or State agencies, private <br /> conservation trusts or other entities or persons in connection with the purchase of such land and <br /> its preservation for conservation purposes; and finally, to see if the Town will authorize the <br /> Conservation Commission and the Board of Selectmen to enter into agreements and execute any <br /> and all instruments as may be necessary on behalf of the Town to effectuate said acquisition. <br /> Submitted by the Conservation Commission <br /> Explanation: In 1985, the Town initiated an effort to protect the Mashpee River Corridor <br /> which, to date, has resulted in the preservation of 657 acres of land in an almost continuous <br /> corridor along the length of the River.
