With regard to engineering certification, Mr-. Bonvie interpreted the meaning of the letter to indicate the structural engineer -cannot determine at this. time whether r not the wall will withstand the test of time, or will need reinforcement/buttress -at some- point . The Town Planner clarified that two o-f the walls s aecifically require a building permit which has not yet been provided to the Board/Staff . There is some question _ regarding bu-il.ding- materials being allowed by the State Building code and considered to be adequate. r. Bonnie stated his ,intention to address this: matter with the Building Inspector and provide documentation t the Board. The Town Planner rude reference- to the appropriafte condition' which states the retaining walls are to be% improved s bj ec.t to approval of building - ,ermits -and construction or reconstruction if necessary, being completed to the satisfaction of the Building Inspector. The chaIrman recognized Gail Barnes who made reference to the fact that the- current Building Inspector will be leaving the po Iition' , asking if Southport residents will have ,any assurance that all agreements will be withheld.
