suggesting the process begin during the months of January <br /> or February, asking that every consideration be given to <br /> the builders who are also a part of the M.ashpee community. <br /> Gerry Umina, Mashpee Resident for thirty-five years - <br /> Responded to the statement that Mashpee is known as the <br /> "fastest growing town" on Cape Cod, as well as in <br /> Massachusetts. He asked why, if this is the case, these <br /> issues of concern had not been addressed sooner. He spoke <br /> to his concerns regarding budget matters in the event a <br /> moratorium is imposed, as well as a possible -negative <br /> effect -on the bond rating. <br /> Edward Barer, Captains Row - He is President of the <br /> Mashpee Environmental Coalition (over 20 members) , a non- <br /> profit organization dedicated to working towards the <br /> environmental health of Mashpee. However, he spoke as a <br /> private citizen, thanking the Planning Board for all they <br /> have done by beginning the DCPC process . He feels that <br /> single family housing on individual lots should be exempt <br /> from a moratorium. <br /> The major concerns he would life to see addressed in <br /> the DCPC are Town-wide traffic, and nutrient contamination <br /> of surface water bodies. He feels that setting a process in <br /> motion that will result in- planning and solutions to <br /> traffic impacts in important. This is not a matter of <br /> bringing in outside direction C C) , rather a decision <br /> making process within the Town. <br /> Mr. Baker spoke to nutrient contamination of the <br /> embayrnents and the Estuaries Report, stating the need t <br /> reduce the amount of nutrients . <br /> He concluded by -stating, ""A DCPC is ghat we need; and <br /> working together is what we need"' . <br /> Lawrence Chabot, Mashpee Resident - Expressed his <br /> support of a DCPC in order to address traffic issues within <br /> the Town . He spore about the possibility of a shuttle bus <br /> for the Southport residents to Mashpee Commons in an <br /> attempt to alleviate some of the traffic on route 151. <br /> Comments - Business Community <br /> Chug Sturtevant, 33 Wintergreen Road - Spore out in <br /> opposition to a DCPC, stating he feels the Town Boards are <br /> 1 <br />
