It is his hope that the <br /> C C will discover ways to slow down development . H feels <br /> this is a. very good be-ginning and would life to see the <br /> grandfather clause removed as it provides too much leeway <br /> and power of development. He stres.sed the importance of <br /> the land. <br /> The Tribe is making every attempt to maintain the <br /> land, as the Creator would want . It is his hope that the <br /> Planning Board, Board of Selectmen, Cape Cod Commission, <br /> and the Townspeople- will be able to agree on ways in which <br /> o preserve the Town of Mashpee. (Applause) <br /> Marty of Manley, Mashpe,e Resident - Thanked the <br /> Planning Board for nominating Mashpee for a DCPC. He <br /> expressed his support for the designation of the entire <br /> Town- of Mashpee (with some exceptions) . <br /> He spoke to traffic and congestion issues, the rain <br /> roads intersecting through the Town, commuter traffic, .all <br /> intersecting at the Mas-hpee rotary, which is a major <br /> challenge. He mentioned the three surrounding communities <br /> of Barnstable., sandwich, andFalmouth noting the population <br /> figures double during the summer months . He also spoke to <br /> the residential numbers and water quality concerns, and <br /> designated groundwater protection and recharge areas . He <br /> also mentioned the central business area and wastewater <br /> treatment facility concerns . <br /> He suggested there could be some very significant <br /> gains for the Town by adopting a DCPC such as rezoning the <br /> Mashpee Commons commercial development, implementation of a <br /> oB Housing Production Program, outside expertise to be <br /> funded by the D I developers as mitigation, and improved <br /> utilization of the wastewater treatment facilities. <br /> (Beverly Dane suggested the speaker submit any further <br /> comments in writing to the Planning Board for review in <br /> order to insure that everyone who wishes to spear will have <br /> the opportunity to do so. <br /> Laura Franks, 30 Sheffield - Expressed her support of <br /> a DCP , stating however he-r concerns for the builders, <br />
