The Chairman signed both the A ]R Plan and the
Certificate of Action..
Discussion
Cape Southport Associates, LL
Old Barnstable Road - Discussion of Trees
The Chairman informed the Board that two Planning
Board Members, Dennis Bal a rin i and Myrna Nuey, have made
an inspection of this property and have filed a fotmal site
report to the Chairman. The Chairman in turn provided
copies to all Board Members and to Mr. Ron. -Bi .
Lee Gurney read the following report into the Record:
'"Memo to, Beverly Kane, Chairman, from Myrna Nuey and Dennis
Bal arini, regarding Southport Tree Evaluation, dated July
, 2005 . Planning Board Members Dennis Bal arini and Myrna
Nuey visited Mr. Dan Maloney of 18 Driver Lane and Mr.
Louis Dhlonis of 15 Driver Lane of Southport in Mashpee,
. Upon arrival we could see that the two white pines in
question looked good from the front Of Mr. Maloney' s home.
However, once going to the back area we immediately
discovered that the two trees are in fact a safety concern.
One of the trees has a significant crag and many broken
limbs hanging down. Both trees are serving no purpose of
beauty or advantage to the residents. The trees are both
less than twenty--feet from a resident' s deckand have very
large trunks. In addition the trees are not in lime with
the perimeter of the landscaping (property line) and it i
suggested by Dennis and myself that they be removed.
Talking towards Buildings 11-14 to look at the oak trees in
question behind Mr. Dhionis' pfoperty we discovered that a
group of three oak trees, two of which are root connected,
are less that three-feet from deck steps which does propose
serious safety issue and need to be removed. Less than
fifteen-feet away are another group of oak trees that also
need to be removed. This group of trees also indicate a
safety issue being too close to the homes . Please try and
imagine none of these trees are in lime with the property
line and look completely out of place. Directly behind all
f the trees in question is a beautiful wooded area full of
pines, oafs and maples. Removing these trees aloes not
create a sparse area but will in fact make it look
attractive and above all, -safe. We are requesting that all
above trees be immediately removed. If we suffer any type
of tropical storm or hurricane these trees would impose a
safety hazard to the residents of 11-14 and 15-18 Driver
