He supports- Planning -Board development <br /> of a similar document. <br /> Lee Gurney suggested the Building Department be <br /> provided with some of this information for their review and <br /> comment . <br /> Myrna Nuey suggested that those regulations required <br /> in the existing bylaw be incorporated and enhanced by some <br /> of the information in the Guide Book. <br /> Harvey Cohen noted one resource used by the Town of <br /> Franklin was derived from the Massachusetts Department of <br /> Environmental Protection (DEP) Handbook. He suggested the <br /> Board b.ecome more familiar with this information. <br /> The Town Planner stated reference is made to the DEP <br /> Handbook in the existing flown of Mashpee Bylaws . This <br /> document addresses primarily sediment removal practices . <br /> Mashpee is concerned with nitrogen, which is a little more <br /> difficult and involved. <br /> Mr. Rowley stated he was impressed by the quality of <br /> the Franklin- document, noting its clarity. He did note <br /> however that it addresses new development, not single- <br /> family house lots . The document also incorporates a method <br /> of going through the planning process of the development, <br /> which suggests smart growth practices. <br /> He suggested the Board discuss/review this document in <br /> terms of the type of development and water quality <br /> expectations for lashpee. <br /> The Town' Planner suggested the Mashpee booklet take <br /> the form of an educational tool gu.id.ing the developer in <br /> order to achieve the requirements- in the Zoning Bylaw, <br /> The Assistant Town Planner volunteered to contact a <br /> Franklin official to discuss the terms of their document <br /> and report back to the Board. <br /> 17 <br />
