w
The Chairman took exception to the speaker' s statement
regarding phosphorus. She stated there are serious
concerns on Cape- Cod with a number of ponds .
Mr. - Donahoe clarified, "Gene-rally, on Cape Cod
nitrogen is the limiting nutrient that is more important" .
Dennis Bal arini expressed his- concern for the current
situation of placing leaching fields near two ponds that
have not had phosphorus around them, in addition to the
-nitrogen.
Mr. Donahoe indicated the location of the treatment
plant discharge, stating the analysis on the plan shows the
groundwater at the location will not go anywhere near the
ponds. He also spore to the mounding conditions., stating
it is insignificant and will not effect the direction of
the groundwater. Where a-re no anticipated impacts to
Coombs Pond or Amos Pond.
References were made to US S information as noted on
the plan sheet ) with reference to groundwater direction.
r. Rowley did not disagree with the speaker'
statement. He feels there i-s enough distance from the
ponds that by the time the effluent reaches groundwater it
will bypass the ponds. The flow will have more of a
tendency to flow in a southerly direction.
Mr. Rowley asked -for clarification regarding
revegetation.
r. Donahoe responded the planting over the new site
will consist of N.E. wildflower mix that will be mowed once
a year to discourage any tree growth.
Mr. Foley asked about the plan itself regarding the
elevations of the cross section of the leaching facility
showing less than 5-ft . below the bottom of the stone under
the pipe and high groundwater. He asked if it is
appropriate to go below the normal Title V requirement of
5-ft .
Mr. Donahoe responded this is not a Title V system.
e further stated that . -ft . show on the plan and details
7
