The survey was
conducted under State Archaeologist's Permit #2015 issued by the Massachusetts Historical
Commission(MHC). Fieldwork for the intensive survey was conducted during the weeks of April
9 and April 16,2001 utilizing the methodology outlined in the technical proposal for this project.
This document presents the results and management recommendations of the intensive survey.
The fieldwork portion of the intensive survey began with a walkover survey of the project parcel.
which was designed to refine the preliminary archaeological sensitivity assessment. look for
surface indications ofarchaeologicalsites, and select specific locations for subsurface testing. No indications of prehistoric or historic period resources such as artifact scatters, stone
walls, depressions, or orchards was noted in the project area or in the immediate vicinity.
A total of 43,50 x 50 centimeter(cm)test pits was excavated within the archaeologically sensitive
portions of the 33,600 square feet(sq ft) proposed for development. The testing was completed
in the form of 3, 30 x 30 meter(m) test pit blocks. each containing 13 test pits: and along one
linear transects, with test pits placed at 10-m intervals.
