Priestly, Anchor Self Storage
April 25, 2001
Page 2
Test pit soil profiles were extremely uniform across the project area characterized by grey sandy loam A/podzc
horizon and dark brown sandy silt A/topsoil horizon to an average depth of 17 cm below the ground surface(cmbs;
overlying yellow brown silty B, and olive brown clayey silt B,subsoils. No evidence of plowzone was noted it
the project area. Soils were all extremely silty and gravelly, many with poorly drained and/or wet subsoils.
The combined results of the intensive survey, including background research, informant interviews(Mark Harding.
Wampanoag Tribe ofGay Head/Aquinnah and Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe),a"site walkover, and subsurface testing,
did not identify any documented prehistoric or historic period resources nor archaeological deposits within the
Proposed Anchor Self Storage Facility project area. Therefore, the proposed project will not affect any potentially
significant cultural resources, and no further archaeological investigations are recommended.
We are currently preparing the draft technical report for this project, which will be submitted for your review prior
to submittal to MHC. If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to call Holly
Herbster or me at your convenience.
Sincerely,
,
.
A(Suzanne PCherau
Principal Investigator
Ap
Public Archaeology Laboraton•
210 Lonsdale Avenue
Pawtucket.
