Schedule of Inspection and Maintenance of System
1. The stormwater system requires regular attention in order to ensure the effectiveness of the
system. It is recommended that the drainage system be inspected annually by a professional
engineer
in order to ensure that the system is properly maintained. Any deterioration
threatening the structural integrity of the facilities shall be immediately repaired.
?. Catch basins shall be inspected semi-annually. Sediments shall be removed if the depth of
deposits are equal to or greater than 1/3 the depth from the bottom of the basin to the lowest
invert of the pipe out of the basin. If a catch basin is found during the semi-annual inspection
to significantly exceed this standard, it shall be inspected every four- (4) months and cleaned
if necessary. At the time of inspection, accumulated floating debris, oil and grease floating in
the basins shall be removed. The oil absorption pillows shall be replaced during the semi-
annual inspection.
3. Paved parking areas shall be swept when necessary to remove debris and good housekeeping
measures should be implemented throughout the site in order to keep the parking lots and
dumpster area clean of debris.
4. Biofiltration swales should be inspected at least semi-annually, and maintenance and repairs
made as necessary. Additional inspections should be scheduled during the first few months of
operation in order to make sure the vegetation becomes adequately established. Repairs and
reseeding should be performed as required.
5. Swales should be mowed at least once per year. Grass clippings should be removed. The
grass must not be cut too often or shorter than four inches, in order to maintain the
effectiveness of the Swale.
6. Sediment and debris should be removed from the swales manually, at least once per year.
before the vegetation is adversely impacted.
7. Care should be taken to protect the swales from snow removal and disposal practices and off
street parking.
