PRELIMINARY PLAT' - A plan of a proposed subdivision or r subdivision of land
<br /> submitted for tentative approval by the Board underM.G.L. chapter 41.
<br /> PROFILE - A complete and accurate representation, -prepared by -an engineer in
<br /> accordance With standard engineering practice, of the existing grades and finished vertical
<br /> profile of a road or roads to be constructed within a. development, 'including proposed utilities,
<br /> on plan/profile paper and copies or prints thereof. On the plan portion there shall be a plan of
<br /> the road with centerline stationing corresponding to the stationing on the profile.
<br /> PROJECT — The proposed subdivision, roads, buildings etc. which are the subject of the
<br /> special permit application.
<br /> ROADBED - The structure of a street facility required for movement -of 'motor vehicle
<br /> traffic, including the roadway, curb and gutter, shoulders, subgrade, any fill required or any
<br /> other element required to support the roadway,
<br /> ROADWAY - The actual paved or 'hardened road surface area within a street, or
<br /> occasionally separate from a street within a non.-residential or multifamily development, which
<br /> may include travel lanes, bicycle lanes, parking lanes and deceleration and acceleration lanes
<br /> but-not curbs, whether vertical or mountable. Sometimes referred to as the cartes ,
<br /> SHADE TREE - A tree.with a caliper over four inches in a public place, street, special
<br /> easement or right-of-way adjoining a street, including, but not limited to, public shade trees as
<br /> defined by M.G.L. chapter 87, Section 1.
<br /> SHARED USE PATH - Update of the team "bike path". The term recognizes that such
<br /> paths are not used exclusively by bicyclists, and must be designed with accommodation of
<br /> pedestrians, in-rive slaters, baby carriages etc. in mind in addition to bicyclists,
<br /> SIGHT TRIANGLE - A triangular-shaped area of land established at street intersections
<br /> within which nothing may be erected, planed, planted or allowed to grow in such a manner as
<br /> to limit or obstruct the sight distance of motorists entering or leaving the intersection.
<br /> SITE - the.entire tract on which a proposed use or development is located.
<br /> SPECIMEN TREE - A native, introduced or naturalized tree which is important because
<br /> of its impact on community character, its significance in the historic cultural landscape or its
<br /> value in enhancing wildlife habitat. Any tree with a dbh of " or larger is eligible to be
<br /> considered a specimen tree, Trees that have a small height at maturity or are slow growing,
<br /> such as flowering dogwood or American holly with a dbh of " or larger are eligible to .be
<br /> considered specimen trees. Specimen trees shall include, but are not limited to, American holly,
<br /> Arnencan beech, white pine, white or red cedar, locust, hickory, chestnut, horse chestnut, elm,
<br /> silver maple, sugar maple, Norway maple, tupelo and flowering dogwood meeting the above
<br /> size specifications.
<br /> STREET - A roadway and all associated facilities and land area Within the sidelines of a
<br /> public-way laid out by the Town undt M.C.L. chapter 82, Section 21 or other authority or laid
<br /> out by the state or county, which is open to travel by the general public and is on record at the
