Meeting Minutes
Design Review Committee
Tuesday, January 4, 2022
Mashpee Town Hall Waquoit Meeting Room
Jonathan asked Dave if there was an issue with the size of the free standing
sign, and how it will be lit.
Dave reviewed the bylaw and read the requirements stating the sign is
measured on the outside perimeter of the structure exclusive of any
supporting posts or similar structure below the lower edge of the sign face.
The sign is 40 sq. ft. which is allowed in the commercial zone. He mentioned
that this sign application falls under the Planning Board as noted in Section
174-51.
Mr. Burch said that the free standing sign will have downward lighting, and
it is not internally lit or back lit. There are two wall signs measuring 25 sq.
ft. being proposed as well and conform to the requirements, and will have
downward lighting.
Tyler recommend that more screening be provided along Ninigret Ave and
the residential area. He noticed on the landscape plan that there is only one
large elm, and suggested some additional lower plantings.
Jonathan asked if additional features could be added to the building or
between the building and parking area. Mr. Burch said that foe windows
could be added to break up the fagade on the building.
There was no more discussion.
Joe made a motion that the committee accept the Sherman-Williams Retail
Paint and Supply Store for construction of a 4,000 sq. ft. building, and 40
sq. ft. sign at 413 Nathan Ellis Highway.
