Mashpee Zoning Minutes—March 22, 2000 5 Board of Appeals Mr. Mike Salvi represented the application and stated that Salrama, Inc. is requesting y° permission to leave tent poles and canopies overnight on the subject property. , ,,a Mr. Regan said that the performance security was never released because the site was not r , kept clean. He also complained that Mr. Salvi neglected to remove several poles for ,w months after the flea market closed for the season. Mr. Salvi said that some of the poles .A � were embedded in cement and he had to contract someone to remove them. 4 Mr. Salvi said that he never heard anything negative. He said that he even went across the street to pick up trash. Mr. Salvi said that cars and pedestrians passing by the flea 1 ' market also generate the trash in front. Mr. Regan said that he has a problem with the condition of the building and the signs and A �'a.14 that they look terrible. He said that a landscaping plan has never been required and that Design Review should be involved in making suggestions for landscaping improvements. Mr. Salvi said that the question of landscaping was never brought up by the Board last year. M+ ��! Mr. Salvi said that the flea market could not be operated without the tents. The heat and . humidity is too grueling for vendors and shoppers without tents. Mr. Salvi reiterated that .M�. he and his partner, Joe Marrama, are willing to do whatever they can to satisfy the Board's demands. Mr. Regan asked Mr. Hauck if the Building Department received many complaints ,.."'„� concerning the flea market last year. Mr. Hauck said that his department did not receive a many. Mr. Brem asked if the Zoning Enforcement officer could monitor the operation of A"., the flea market on a monthly basis. Mr. Regan said that the flea market has had problems with mobile homes being lived in on the subject property in the past. Mr. Salvi said that the only overnight parking was for security purposes, which the Board allowed. Mr. Nelson agreed that the landscaping leaves a lot to be desired, but questioned the wisdom of the Board to require someone who is renting a lot for a short period of time to perform any extensive amount of landscaping. Mr.Nelson suggested that the owner of u the flea market should be contacted. �1.. Mr. Regan disagreed and said that he has been listening for years that"this is the last time”that the flea market would be operated. He said that the applicant is not even aware + of the importance of what the Board is considering. Mr. Regan said that the Board is reviewing renewal of the Special Permit(which he said the Board was told it would not have to do'again) and for permission to have the canopies and tents left overnight. q� ♦ ti 11� .
