Mashpee Zoning Minutes—March 22, 2000 7
Board of Appeals
Sitting: James E. Regan III, Robert G.Nelson and Zella E. Elizenberry.
.10
Mr. Rob Dougherty represented the application and stated that he leases part of the e "
Mashpee Commerce Center building. He is seeking permission to erect a fence to allow
for outside storage of wholesale PVC plumbing supplies. Mr. Dougherty told the Board
that the Holly Management and Supply Company has a good reputation and operates out
of three other locations. "
A
Eagle Fence Company of Falmouth is being contracted to install the new six-foot chain ,
link fence approximately 650 feet away from Route 28 in the back of the building. Mr. 4.1';A'
Dougherty said that the fence would most likely not be visible from the street because of
its proposed location in the back of the building. An enclosed dumpster would also be
provided.
Mr. Dougherty said that the owners of the building, Duck Pond Limited Partnership, has
approved the proposal. Ms. Elizenberry questioned if there would be a conflict with any }
other tenants. Mr. Dougherty replied that entrance and exit to the plumbing company
would not disturb the other tenants. '"''
Mr. Hauck suggested that the Board condition the Special Permit and require that the
plumbing supplies are not to be stacked higher than the proposed fence. Mr. Dougherty "
assured the Board that the supplies would not be stacked higher than the fence because of
the limited height range of the forklifts and for security reasons.
Mr. Hauck asked if Mr. Dougherty would consider the installation of a stockade fence. :'" µ
Mr. Dougherty said that forklift operators might bump into a stockade fence and destroy '
it, whereas a galvanized chain link fence would fare better than a wood fence would.
No comments were received from abutters.
Mr.Nelson moved to grant the Special Permit to erect a 6-foot chain link fence, covering
an area of approximately of 100 feet x 60 feet, as shown on plan dated 11/19/99, revised
2/14/00. Storage of supplies within the fenced-in area shall not exceed the height of the
fence. Ms. Elizenberry seconded. All agreed. Subject to criteria 1,2,4 for commercial
permits.
r
Ronald M coc—Requests a Special Permit under Sections 174-25.D.1 and 174-25.E.1
of the Zoning By-Laws to allow for business operation and retail sale as permitted under i
Section 174-80.F (Groundwater Protection District) on property located in a C-2 zoning Ito
district at Falmouth Road(Map 54 Block 76) Mashpee, MA.
Anyone can sit: present-James E.
