HELD. <br />There was a question regarding the update of the open space/conservation plan as it relates to the <br />timeline for implementation. It was agreed Town Counsel would be consulted regarding the <br />language of this article. <br />Article: To instruct the Town Select Board to begin each meeting with an <br />acknowledgement of land that recognizes and respects various Indigenous Peoples <br />as traditional stewards of the land. HELD <br />The Select Board agreed to schedule a meeting with the Tribal Council prior to the execution of the <br />Warrant on March 21, 2022. <br />Article: To instruct the Select Board to address immediately the growing burden of onerous <br />property tax increases on the Town's low- and moderate -income property owners. <br />HELD <br />There is an article on the Annual Town Meeting warrant to move forward with respect to this regard. <br />Article: To reverse the impending ban on the sale of single use water bottles throughout the <br />Town of Mashpee which is set to go into effect on September 30, 2022. <br />Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to oppose the passage of the above referenced Petition <br />Article. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Weeden. <br />VOTE: Motion carries. 3-2. To not recommend this article. <br />Roll Call Vote: <br />Selectman Sherman, yes Selectman Weeden, yes Selectman Gottlieb, yes <br />Selectman Cotton, no Selectman O'Hara, no Opposed, (2) <br />Article: To establish a 10% limit on the amount by which the Town can increase residential <br />real estate tax in a single tax year on any property owned, directly or indirectly, by <br />one or more individuals aged 65 years or older. <br />Motion made by Selectman Gottlieb to oppose the passage of the above referenced Petition <br />Article. <br />Motion seconded by Selectman Weeden. <br />VOTE: Motion carries. 4-0-1.
