-old Barnstable Rd. -- left turns in be eliminated.
-Pilgrims Pride Nursing home -- the sign is not visible from
far enough back and people getting rear ended.
--151 and old Barnstable Rd.- stop lines not well defined and
stop signs should be moved to a better location, turning
lane added.
Louise in that case it is an issue of having speed limits
enforced on that road.
--Algonquin Ave - sight distance problems.
--Recommend construct Donna' s Lane as proposed.
-steeple street -- full signalization or limit turns in and
out to right only.
--Rte 130 and Rte 28 - widening and upgrading signal.
Rte 28 , 151 and. Rotary in long term:
Looked at (at Mass DPW request) building a bridge or tunnel
for rotary.
Modeled two -things - a grade separation which would keep
Rte. 28 as main route and grade separation that alternative
would go from Rte 28 on the East side of the road to 151 on'
west side of rotary. Has been talk of re-designating Rte 151
as Rte 28 and re--naming the portion of Rte 28 which loops
down through Falmouth.
At this point have dropped both these ideas .
Preferred alternative to take pressure off rotary:
- complete Bonna's Lane
- open Jobs Fishing Rd and construct extension.
- eliminate Great Neck Road south by construction of east
Steeple street.
Eventually they could create a 4 way signalized intersection
at the rotary.
Mr. Mumford stated that you can expect a doubling of traffic
volumes on the road network in about. 15 years.
Route 28 is a major conflict of use between State and
business community.
The Board asked Mr. Mumford' s opinion on the speed limit on
Jobs Fishing Rd. He responded that they modeled it for 25
mile per hour speed, more of a local road, and to provide
some access to development but still minimize curb cuts .
He doesn' t know about the parking on the street issue .
Pat asked what is the trip time difference between 25 and 40
mph?
Bob stated virtually none.
He will get some current plans for the street.
Mr. Mumf ord cannot_ mare the May 2nd meeting with Fields
Point. He will review the latest plans and then set an
agreeable date to meet with the Planning Board.
He stated that the Town can do the improvements in phases ,
monitor effects and see when more improvements will be
needed.
6 -
