Distinguished Service Award: <br />Officer Carl DeLorme <br />(25 years of dedicated service) <br />Distinguished Service Award: <br />Dispatch Supervisor Scott Halligan <br />(30 years of dedicated service) <br />Meritorious Award: Detective William Cuozzo <br />I am extremely confident in the quality of <br />personnel employed within the Mashpee Police <br />Department and I look forward to continuing an <br />outstanding working relationship with the community. <br />We will continue to pledge an open, accountable, <br />accessible police department responsive to your needs <br />and concerns. We will continually strive to earn your <br />trust and provide exceptional services while always <br />treating you with dignity and respect. This is our <br />commitment to you. I truly believe that our unique <br />commitment to the betterment of this department in <br />addition to a collective effort to provide effective and <br />efficient police services will deliver productive results <br />that can truly make a difference in this community's <br />quality of life and take this agency to its highest <br />professional level ever. <br />Finally, I would also like to extend my heartfelt <br />appreciation to the fine men and women that make up <br />the Mashpee Police Department. Carlin <br />Chief of Police <br />Polygraph Examiner <br />Report of the <br />Department of Public Works <br />To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and the <br />Citizens of the Town of Mashpee: <br />In 2016, the Department of Public Works <br />performed its normal operations for maintaining the <br />Town roads, buildings, and properties including <br />Heritage Park, South Cape Beach, the Transfer Station, <br />and the cemeteries. <br />Below are highlights of several specific activities <br />during the past year. <br />Road Projects <br />The following roads were resurfaced with <br />drainage repairs: Swain Circle and Hanson Drive in the <br />Asher's Heights neighborhood; Old Colony Way; <br />Ashumet Avenue, Highview Avenue, Hilltop Avenue, <br />and Highland Avenue in the Briarwood neighborhood. <br />Sturgis Lane was reconstructed with drainage repairs. <br />All projects were funded through the DPW Operational <br />Budget (FY16 and FY17). <br />Construction associated with conversion of the <br />following private roads to public roads was completed: <br />Sunset Strip, Wilann Road, Claulise Lane, Noisy Hole <br />Road (partial), and Anthony's Way. Conversion of the <br />roads in the Spring Hill neighborhood was approved at <br />the October 2016 Town Meeting as was the conversion <br />of Leeward Lane. <br />Design work continued for reconstruction and <br />improvement of Route 151. The project will ultimately <br />include upgrading of the traffic signals, extension of <br />the multi -use path along the entire corridor in Mashpee, <br />construction of a sidewalk from Old Barnstable Road to <br />Winslow Drive, improvement of signage and lighting, <br />and improvement/lane reconfigurations at various <br />intersections as well as reconstruction of the road itself. <br />Construction funding for the project will be through the <br />Cape Cod Transportation Improvement Program and is <br />tentatively scheduled for FFY20/21. Design is being <br />funded through Chapter 90. Twenty-five percent <br />(25%) design plans will be submitted to Mass DOT in <br />December 2017. <br />Design plans were completed and permitting <br />approved for replacement of the culvert on <br />Quinaquisset Avenue at Willowbend. Construction <br />will be scheduled for October 2017. The work is being <br />funded through Chapter 90. <br />All culverts and bridges on Town roads were <br />inspected and a report detailing conditions with <br />recommended improvements was prepared. Priority <br />improvements will be undertaken starting in 2017. <br />Special Projects <br />Design and permitting for the replacement of the <br />ramp at Great River Boat Ramp with a double wide <br />ramp continued. Unfortunately, permitting was not <br />completed in time for construction to be scheduled for <br />127 <br />
