Athletics <br />The 2015-2016 Athletics season saw many <br />successes and laid the foundation for optimism in <br />2016-2017 year. <br />Fall Season Highlights <br />Our Football team, led by senior running back <br />DeShaun Dias (2,302 yds rushing and 33 touchdowns), <br />finished with a 10-3 record and won the Division VI <br />State Championship at Gillette Stadium. Dias would <br />go on to be named to the Boston Globe and Boston <br />Herald All Scholastic Teams and was named the <br />Division IV Player of the Year. Dias ended his Mashpee <br />career with a school record 4, 367 rushing yards and 63 <br />total touchdowns. Football Head Coach Matthew <br />Triveri was named the Division VI Coach of the Year by <br />the Boston Herald and ESPN Boston. He was also <br />named the New England Patriots Coach of the Year and <br />was a nominee for National Coach of the Year. <br />The MMHS girls soccer team won the Cape and <br />Islands Soccer Officials Sportsmanship Award and <br />were led by senior goalkeeper Amanda Soroka, who <br />set a school record for shutouts with 11. Senior <br />midfielder Emma McNally was selected to the Eastern <br />Massachusetts All -Star team. The Lady Falcons ended <br />their season with a record of 10-8-2. <br />The MMHS Golf and Field hockey teams both <br />qualified for the MIAA tournament for the second year <br />in a row and finished with records on 11-8 and 12-8 <br />respectively. <br />Other highlights include strong performances by <br />our sub -varsity and middle school teams which have <br />shown great promise for the future of MMHS athletics. <br />Fall Season South Shore League All -Stars <br />Field Hockey: Samantha Fraser (12), <br />Cece Piermattei (11), and <br />Chayna Hendricks (11) . <br />Boys Soccer: Shannon McGovern (12), <br />Emma McNally (12), <br />Rachel Bridges (12), Sara McRae (12), <br />and Amanda Soroka (12). <br />Cheerleading: Abigail Tremarche (12) <br />Boys Soccer: Ben Daigneault (12), Gunnar Ahearn <br />(11), and Ryan Boyd (11). <br />Golf: Jake Curtin (11), Jacob Marques (11). <br />Football: Emmett Sweeney (12), Andrew Vinitsky (12), <br />Dominic Cassell (12), Joey Spinola (12), <br />DeShaun Dias (12), and Nick Carpenter (11). <br />Winter Season Highlights <br />In the winter, gymnastics, boys basketball, and <br />hockey qualified for the MIAA tournament. <br />The MMHS varsity boys basketball team won a <br />share of the South Shore League Small title, the first <br />league title in program history. Freshman Devaun Ford <br />set a school record with a 41 point effort against Carver <br />High School. Head Basketball Coach Rick Boulrisse <br />was named South Shore League Tobin Division Coach <br />of the Year. <br />Mashpee — Falmouth gymnastics under the <br />guidance of Shailey Pires went all the way to the state <br />championship level finishing fourth in all of <br />Massachusetts. The gymnastics team set a school - <br />record for points in a single meet with 143.75. <br />The cooperative hockey team Mashpee — <br />Monomoy Monarchs finished a school best record of <br />12-3. Freshman goalie Jack Daigneault finished the <br />season ranked 2nd on the Cape in shutouts and 3rd in <br />save percentage. <br />The MMHS Indoor Track team had one South <br />Shore League All -Star in Junior Gunnar Ahearn. <br />Ahearn would finish the season by placing 31 st overall <br />out of 124 athletes in the MIAA Pentathlon. <br />Winter Season South Shore League All -Stars <br />Boys Basketball: Michael Fraser (10), Devaun Ford (9). <br />Girls Basketball: Jordan Hue (8). <br />Girls Hockey: Tannah O'Brien (11). <br />Gymnastics: Allison Kondracki (11), <br />Sydney Pinsonneault (11). <br />Cheerleading: Brenda Price (12). <br />Boys Indoor Track: Austin Gray (11), <br />Gunnar Ahearn (11), and <br />Ryan Boyd (11). <br />Girls Indoor Track: Shannon McGovern (12), <br />Katie Wellington (11), and <br />Tess Hachey (8) <br />145 <br />
