16 Great Neck Road North
-%Iashpee, Nassachusetts 02649
Mr. Colombo we are all going to decide that. When he says we, he says regulatory boards, at least a
member from each board, to talk with the Select Board to provide transparency of what we will pursue.
Are we going to pursue a water shed permit that has a 20 year roll out? It is nothing he is interested in,
he doesn't have all the facts and figures, but if people would like to hear more and are interested. Our
water sheds are shared. It would be complicated permit because you are looking at Falmouth or Cotuit
other communities come into this. CC water shed permit for Orleans Brewster Harwich for Pleasant Bay
up and running for about 3 years and is the only one on the Cape. It looks fairly complicated. We have
already started a plan with an approved wastewater treatment facility approved. These IA systems
outside of phase one, they are a solution we should be pursuing given the money.
Ms. Waygan is wondering if we should ask the Select Board to workshop with regulatory boards on this
matter.
Mr. Balzarini inquired how come we don't sewer with Sandwich, Falmouth, Bourne and Mashpee to do
one sewer system. Each town contributes to Mashpee. With five competing towns where will the sludge
go? After you have sewer you have sludge. What are other towns doing with it?
Mr. Colombo was the one who brought that up at the last meeting but nobody seems to be thinking
about that.
Ms. Waygan asked again if there should be a written memo encouraging the Select Board to workshop
or are willing to work with them on this.
Ms. Faulkner would like to have the committees and boards meet together to raise that issue.
Ms. Waygan we would like to have a convening of regulatory boards to workshop on this matter.
Workshops convene to discuss a certain matter. Convening the regulatory boards together on one
topic.
Mr. Balzarini would like to wait until the next meeting to see if the agenda item promotes conversation.
Mr. Colombo reiterated either phase is painful and entire neighborhoods will be dug up to replace or
enhance and it is a tall order. His area in Seabrook Meadows, every home will get dug up. What is the
alternative? It is painful and expensive but look at the water. The situation we are in is catastrophic.
Ms. Faulkner asked what will happen to the economy, the fishing, shellfish, tourism, and property
values.
Mr. Colombo stated property value is the number one motivator for anyone here.
21
