u
''s,aruvwmm
16 Great Neck Road North
?lashyee, Massachusetts 02649
Mr. Hansen asked if a policy has more than one action, will it keep listing along with
responsibilities. Ms. Sweet said there are benefits and draw backs to both. She prefers goals,
actions, and policies are listed so the reader sees how they are related. Actions belong with
this policy or that, it may achieve two at once. They want to avoid repetition. This format is
clean with all goals, all policies, with list of actions.
Mr. Hansen noted one action may satisfy several policies, and he would like to see it tie in to
each policy with footnotes as it applies to other areas along the way.
Ms. Sweet looked at the 1998 LCP, goals and policies were not listed as such. Mr. Lehrer did
an assessment based on if a goal happened, and if it did not, he moved it forward with actions
to achieve via this updated LCP.
Ms. Waygan referenced the chart of goals from the 1998 LCP that the intern made. Mr. Lehrer
will make that available to the Board. There are many new actions as well as many that carried
over, if they were supported by the engagement.
Ms. Waygan likes the idea of a symbol, for example, if it relates to water there would be a
water drop. If it relates to housing insert a house. Key symbols would include: housing
water P, economic development $, community Lw* , technology g, transportation &R, and
sustainability Co. Say there was an action using all four symbols, people will target that item to
prioritize.
Ms. Waygan wanted to thank everyone who participated in this process, whether it be a
workshop or survey, it wouldn't have been possible without that input. She encourages
everyone to stay involved! There is a lot of data and she is appreciative for the work of W&S
and she is looking forward to the robust analysis. She would now like to review the Vision
Statement.
Ms. Waygan stated in lieu of using the term senior citizens, she would like to us the phrase
older adults. She would like to add a plug regarding each generation, i.e. children, teenagers,
young adults, middle aged, older adults, etc.
Ms. Faulkner read instead of the last sentence saying "by working together to heal the waters
that have been polluted, housing stock that has been neglected, and ecosystems that have
been disturbed"... she would like to input Mashpee will chart a bright and promising future for
all generations to enjoy.
4
