wwinwre,
16 Great Neck Road North
Nashyee, Nassachusetts 02649
Ms. Waygan would like to keep the sentence "and healing the relationship between town
government and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe", that is an important line.
Ms. Faulkner likes the mention of past injustices, Mashpee is a vibrant and diverse community
and our vision recognizes, honors, and learns from its past.
Ms. Waygan would like to give general feedback. The survey data and workshop data supports
the LCP, but the sustainability piece was missing some of that and could be reviewed again.
Climate change is challenging but was not bulleted enough. She would like a brief summary for
water quality including the Nitrogen Management Plan from 2015 along with Dr. Howe and
Fuss & O'Neill's efforts need to be mentioned. Mr. Balzarini also noted phosphorus. He
referenced the 70% of people who want to start addressing that pollution.
Ms. Sweet stated the one evolving section that they haven't seen yet is existing measures,
what is the town already doing/done.
Ms. Faulkner inquired about trees. Mr. Lehrer added street trees as a streetscaping inclusion.
He will input chapters they are inclusive of. She also inquired about a table of contents.
Ms. Waygan asked about the BETA transportation piece. Mr. Lehrer noted a lot of that is
carried over from 1998. She would like a presentation from BETA before the chapter is
finalized.
Ms. Sweet elaborated they helped with sustainability and are the sole authors for
transportation.
Ms. Waygan would like a presentation from BETA on sustainability and transportation for the
next meeting.
There was discussion about the distinction between goals and policies, as some are unclear.
Ms. Sweet stated Rhode Island has a handbook for every chapter and plan, they are much
more regulated. Mr. Lehrer noted it is similar to the Cape Cod Commission's involvement in
this plan. The handbook goes into great detail about goals, policies, and actions along with a
chart of common words used to start each.
Ms. Waygan stated the housing list is awesome. She inquired about the HPP and how the
housing chapter relates to the HPP.
Mr. Lehrer commented the vision in the LCP is higher level, and goals, policies, and actions
define how we structure and prioritize the targets established by the HPP, to specifically meet
5
