<br /> <br />MASHPEE COMMUNITY GARDEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (MCGAC) <br />MEETING MINUTES <br />May 17, 2023 - 7:00 P.M. <br />Popponesset Meeting Room <br />PRESENT: Chair, Virginia Scharfenberg, Sheryl Carberry, Frank Gallello, Lynn Harris, Kirsten Nordstrom <br />ABSENT: N/A <br />OTHER ATTENDEES: N/A <br />CALL TO ORDER: Chair Scharfenberg called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm. <br /> <br />Meeting Minutes for April 19, 2023. <br />Sheryl Carberry made a motion to accept the minutes of April 19, 2023 as written. <br />Kirsten Nordstrom seconded the motion. <br />The motion was passed by unanimous consent. <br />COMMUNICATIONS and CORRESPONDENCE: <br />None at this Time. <br /> <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS: <br />REPORTS: <br /> <br /> Updated 2023 Gardener’s Plot Assignments, including Wait List – Sheryl Carberry <br />Sheryl Carberry stated that she needs updated information on the people that are on the wait list, i.e. <br />addresses and phone numbers. It was reported that there are 6 people on the wait list and 3 open <br />garden beds. <br /> <br /> Garden Maintenance to Date – Chair Scharfenberg <br />Lynn Harris reported that there are 2 Adirondack chairs currently in the garden. After a discussion it <br />was determined that a request will be made that, moving forward, only folding chairs be brought into <br />the garden and that the chairs be taken out when the gardener leaves. <br />Lynn Harris suggested posting/announcing that if a gardener requires accommodations to notify the <br />Committee and they will assist on a case-by-case basis. <br /> <br />The subject of perennials was discussed and it was agreed that, per the Rules and Regulations under <br />the Annual Plant and Maintenance Section of the Addendum, perennials are not allowed in the <br />Community Garden beds. <br /> <br />Frank Gallello stated that he drove by the garden after dark and there was a very bright light shining. <br />Lynn Harris stated that bright lights are detrimental and interrupt the life cycle of beneficial insects. <br />Chair Scharfenberg will reach out and request that the gardener replace the light with a motion sensor <br />light. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
