Report of the
<br />Building Department
<br />To the Honorable Board of Selectmen and the
<br />Citizens of the Town of Mashpee:
<br />Our Mission:
<br />The Building Department is responsible for
<br />ensuring that buildings are constructed and repaired
<br />safely, meeting Building Code and Zoning By -Law
<br />requirements. The Department issues building,
<br />electrical, gas, and plumbing permits allowing the
<br />construction, reconstruction, repair, alteration, and
<br />demolition of buildings and structures as well as the
<br />installation of equipment. The Department annually
<br />inspects restaurants, lodgings, and other places of
<br />assembly. The Building Department enforces the
<br />Commonwealth of Massachusetts Building Code, the
<br />Architectural Access Board Code, and the Town of
<br />Mashpee Zoning By -Laws.
<br />The goal of the Department is to safeguard the
<br />public health, safety, and general welfare and provide
<br />safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during
<br />emergency operations.
<br />The Department has been working with our new
<br />Software Permiteyes for over a year. All permits are
<br />generated and payable online. This has helped us
<br />increase our efficiency and turnaround time for
<br />processing most permits. We would like to thank the
<br />contractors and the public who have accepted this new
<br />procedure. We greatly appreciate their patience and
<br />willingness to work with us during the beginning
<br />stages. We look forward to assisting all contractors and
<br />the public with their future online permitting.
<br />This department is working on major commercial
<br />projects in Mashpee Commons, Evergreen Circle, and
<br />new residential subdivisions in Willowbend, Southport,
<br />and New Seabury.
<br />We would also like to thank the other town
<br />departments for their professionalism and help in
<br />meeting our goal in safeguarding the public.
<br />We are looking forward to the challenges and
<br />growth the New Year will bring.
